When we arrange for speakers for our Monthly Empowerment Meeting (MEM), we only have two requirements from them – vulnerability & courage.

Our speaker for the Expert Sharing Segment didn’t need to share her fears and struggles but she did.

Vivien Yap, a micro-influencer, shared the journey of her early days and finally working with brands that are aligned to her vision/mission.

We see the world of influencers as glamorous and fun. However, Vivien also shared a part of her that nobody would know – the fears and struggles to enter into the influencer industry.

Thankfully, she is very grounded. She knows who she is, what she stands for and who she wants to work with. She is set realistic goals to achieve the success she has today.

Yes, Vivien reminded all of us that nothing happens overnight but with hard work, determination and believing in ourselves, we can achieve what we have set our eyes upon.

In our Story of Courage segment, it was our Community Leader, Lynette Har’s turn to inspire, encourage & empower all of us.

Within the community, we know Lynette as a very poised and beautiful person, inside out. We didn’t know the extent of her struggles, mentally & emotionally, until now. She took her first step of courage to share with us a part of her story that was never meant to be brought to light.

We applaud her for breaking through this hurdle by sharing with a victor’s mindset so that she can encourage and empower other women in a similar situation than hers.

We learnt from reflections and whatever our past may be, we grow and move on.

Courage, Love, Authenticity, Stewardship & Significance.

And with this, we will be having our last MEM in November. Let’s come together to celebrate the end of a challenging year and plan for a better year in 2021.
